Looking to upgrade your coffee experience at work or a coffee shop?
Rental vs Own coffee equipment
However, stress free does come with a cost. Many coffee distributors or coffee roasters will use the term “free equipment” with the purchase of their beans. DO YOU REALLY THINK IT’S FREE? Everything has a cost, it just comes down to where you are paying for it. You are paying for the coffee by a higher price per pound or you are paying for a low-quality, cheaper coffee bean to supplement the cost of the equipment. Remember those days of cell phone contracts? Free phones from companies that would also lock you in for a long-term contract? Some coffee distributors will do this too. At Banyan Coffee we have zero contracts because we believe the coffee is the true contract. If you love our coffee, you will not leave us. We would rather bind your relationship with coffee and service and not a pen and paper contract.
Other options
Buying used equipment can cut your upfront cost substantially. Most coffee manufactures will have some kind of warranty with the used machine. When you’re buying any type of coffee machine make sure you buy name brands that have been in the coffee industry for years. We recommend Bunn, La Marzocco, Fetco, Wilbur Curtis, Astra, Dalla Corte, Barazta and Mahlkonig to name a few. Parts can be easier to get if the company has been in business for a long time.
Look into rent-to-own equipment as another option because the cost is relatively the same to renting but in the long run you will have ownership of the coffee machine. Plus, you can select your coffee provider without being on the hook with a contract.
What Banyan coffee offers
Private labeling or white label is another option depending on the direction you take your business. We discussed in a previous blog about private label coffee: https://www.banyancoffeecompany.com/white-label-coffee/ We can also help personalize your coffee brand with custom cups, apparel and provide interior design for that new coffee shop.
