Looking to upgrade your coffee experience at work or a coffee shop?

At Banyan we are not just here for the home use coffee drinker, but we also wholesale coffee suppliers to businesses and coffee shops. From coffee equipment, cold brew kegs, to consulting (barista training) we try to make our place a one-stop-shop without compromising quality. We offer coffee equipment, but we always encourage our customers to purchase their equipment as it benefits them in the long run.

Rental vs Own coffee equipment

Rental coffee equipment is easy because there is little investment upfront. Depending on your coffee machine, you can rent it for a few hundred a month or less. Compared to owning many high-end espresso machines that can cost you over $10,000 this is a much cheaper option. Most of the time routine service is part of the rental agreement, which leaves you stress free of the worries of your machine failing on you. If something breaks, usually you’re not stuck with the bill to repair the cost.

However, stress free does come with a cost. Many coffee distributors or coffee roasters will use the term “free equipment” with the purchase of their beans. DO YOU REALLY THINK IT’S FREE? Everything has a cost, it just comes down to where you are paying for it. You are paying for the coffee by a higher price per pound or you are paying for a low-quality, cheaper coffee bean to supplement the cost of the equipment. Remember those days of cell phone contracts? Free phones from companies that would also lock you in for a long-term contract? Some coffee distributors will do this too. At Banyan Coffee we have zero contracts because we believe the coffee is the true contract. If you love our coffee, you will not leave us. We would rather bind your relationship with coffee and service and not a pen and paper contract.
Buying your own machine gives you the freedom of choosing your coffee. If you are unhappy with your coffee it’s much harder to leave your coffee supplier if you have a contract or have an obligation such as “free equipment.” Buying your own equipment gives you the freedom of getting the equipment you want instead of some machine that doesn’t meet your needs or the aesthetics of the surrounding area. Many times you end up with outdated equipment and non-pleasing styles of machines.

Other options

Buying used equipment can cut your upfront cost substantially. Most coffee manufactures will have some kind of warranty with the used machine. When you’re buying any type of coffee machine make sure you buy name brands that have been in the coffee industry for years. We recommend Bunn, La Marzocco, Fetco, Wilbur Curtis, Astra, Dalla Corte, Barazta and Mahlkonig to name a few. Parts can be easier to get if the company has been in business for a long time.
Look into rent-to-own equipment as another option because the cost is relatively the same to renting but in the long run you will have ownership of the coffee machine. Plus, you can select your coffee provider without being on the hook with a contract.

What Banyan coffee offers

We offer an array of coffee equipment such as nitro cold brew kegerators. A lot of these kegerator systems can be purchased for around $1000 from kegoutlet.com, which is a small investment. We can also maintain your kegerator with nitrogen tanks and change out your cold brew when empty. Coffee grinders and coffee makers are another service we offer. We provide Bunn machines, which are the most reliable equipment on the market today. Outside of equipment we can supply you with syrups (we only use Monin syrups or homemade syrups because they don’t use any artificial ingredients, are vegan, and use pure cane sugar).

Teas go hand in hand with coffee. We recently partnered up with a tea company because we share a lot of the same values. Most places who serve coffee will more than likely serve tea. We offer hibiscus, mango, Earl Grey, black tea and many more

Private labeling or white label is another option depending on the direction you take your business. We discussed in a previous blog about private label coffee: https://www.banyancoffeecompany.com/white-label-coffee/ We can also help personalize your coffee brand with custom cups, apparel and provide interior design for that new coffee shop.

During any of these services we offer free consulting to guide you in your coffee needs. Coffee consulting can be the most valuable service because you learn barista training. After you open your coffee shop we will be there to help you along the way. Our philosophy is to have a continuous coffee relationship.
